Patricia’s Patches OP 15, 16 from Virtual Quilter

This project file uses the same blocks as yesterday’s designs, but with different fabrics and set on point.

Not many of the blocks are repeated in these particular quilt designs, but I love that they look so different with the different fabrics and the different setting.

Five Patch Fragments OP 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

I am not a great fan of pieced quilts, but I like these designs, influenced at least a little by the applique border.

Love the second one!

It Feels Good To Be Making Progress On Something from Quilty Folk

I actually managed to get quite a bit done in spite of the fact that we had a busy, busy Easter weekend! I went ahead and added a very small coping border between the main part of A-Tisket-A-Tasket and the red hst border.

A-Tisket-A-Tasket getting a border or two
I'm pretty sure there will only be one more border, of much larger red and gold hst units. It's all cut out and ready for sewing, just need to find the time. Super happy with how it's turning out though. That lighter yellow/gold just made everything shine ...

A Spoonful of Sugar 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

Very pretty, and would be pretty time consuming to make it up!

Oops, a bit of a booboo in the second design ,,, glad I don’t have to unpick it!

Patch Play 31, 32 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting.

The block in the corners of the main body of this design is a modification of Mexican Rose 2, found in the Electric Quilt Block library. It is probably the most used of all the applique blocks, and has been twisted, turned, expanded, reduced and pulled to pieces to create many modified blocks for use in many of the project files I have in my EQ file.

Love the second design, which features some other applique blocks which I have modified a few times.

9P Pretties from EQ5 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

All the designs in this project file look very washed out, which is what you would expect of real quilts as old as these designs!

The second one must have been bleached at some time. I think I was experimenting to see just how little contrast is needed to make the block designs interesting … at the time I was learning to draw pieced blocks by adding all the block designs I had scribbled on piles of paper to my EQ library.

When You Start Something Almost Beyond Your Control or Imagining from Quilty Folk

So here we go, Coronacrazy borders are all stitched down and the top is complete!*whew  This one has been a long slog, in more ways than one. It was started in March of 2020 on a total whim, with the end result always being up in the air. In fact, the end product wasn't even of much concern until later. It was all about keeping busy-hands, mind, body and spirit.

Coronacrazy borders are on
Every decision made after the initial start of cutting and stitching down the 'hills' has been a reaction to what came before. At this ...

Strawberries and Chocolate 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Strawberries on a bed of chocolate, and the quilting looks abit like caramel topping drizzled over it all.

Pity I have already had breakfast … sounds like a delicious way to start the day, and strawberries are healthy food!

Love the second design.

Annie Clover Quilted 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Love it.

Love it!

I am watching our young satsuma plum tree like a hawk, but the rest of the birds haven’t found a way through the net … each day just a little more dark plum colouring, and just a little bit of softness … ready to pick and eat soon, and when I have had enough fresh, will start drying them. No need to make jam this year as a friend gave me buckets full last year when there were about three plums on our tree.

Garden Festival 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

I have spent a lot of time playing with dirt in the garden over the last few years, in particular, over the last year. My garden is a lot less grand than the ones in my virtual quilts, but the weeds are much more impressive, but I keep dreaming that one day the weeds will be under control, or even eliminated altogether.

However, in the next twenty four hours I think I will have some flowers on a plant I have never grown in any of my ten gardens. It feels like I have just stitched the binding on a ...

It's Always Better To Have the Prep Work Behind You from Quilty Folk

I've been busy, busy. Trying to get lots of applique prep done over the last weekend while my daughter was away on vacation. It was waaay past time to pull out Coronacrazy and just get moving on it. While the centerpiece has been done since January, the only thing accomplished since that particular push was the foundation work for this applique border. Letting it sit around and gather dust was only making me feel guilty and even more apprehensive about how it was going to turn out.

Will have to stitch down the corners later
The thing is, the ...

Odds and Ends from Quilty Folk

I'm slowly getting a little bit of quilting done on Bullseye Medallion. I say 'slowly', because it seems like I've been skipping every other night lately. Oh well. At least there's something happening with it even if it doesn't look like much!

Hand quilting Bullseye Medallion
It's a long story, but the short version is that I got totally distracted by a squirrel last week. It started out with a mad dash through the orphaned/abandoned blocks totes and ended up being eleven doll quilts.

Little doll quilts
These simple little orphan quilts were gifted ...

Clamshells 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

I have sometimes thought I would make something using Clamshells, but thinking is a long way from actually starting. However, I have played with the shape occasionally, just to see if I could come up with something I just had to make.

I like the corners of the wide border in the second design more then the first, but more playtime is required.
